On February 12, we celebrated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science at the EspacioVioleta of the Library of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria with the inspiring talk “Women in Neuroscience,” an initiative promoted by the Spanish Society for Neuroscience.
We were joined by three outstanding professionals who introduced us, from different perspectives, to the fascinating world of science:
-
Inés Albájar Gómez, neurologist specialized in neurorehabilitation and sleep medicine.
-
Maica Amador, researcher in applied neuroscience and video games.
-
Daniel Pérez-Marcos, expert in health technologies.
During the session, we reflected on the role of women in science, the challenges that still persist, and the importance of highlighting role models who inspire new generations.
It was a space for learning, dialogue, and motivation that reminded us that breaking stereotypes and fostering scientific vocations is a collective task.
