World Brain Day 2025: the importance of neurological intervention after brain damage.
World Brain Day, promoted by the World Federation of Neurology, serves as an international platform to raise awareness about the importance of brain health and to highlight scientific advances in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of neurological diseases.
In this context, from the ICN Foundation, we want to emphasize a key principle in clinical neuroscience: the potential for functional recovery of the brain after an acquired injury largely depends on neuronal plasticity and on early, specialized, and intensive therapeutic intervention.
Neurological rehabilitation should not be considered a complementary treatment, but rather an evidence-based therapeutic intervention that combines motor relearning strategies, cognitive modulation, speech therapy, and functional retraining.
On the occasion of World Brain Day, we want to remind everyone that neurological damage does not necessarily mean irreversible deterioration. The central nervous system retains an adaptive capacity that can—and should—be harnessed through specialized therapeutic interventions.
